Fort XII - also known as Fort "Janowo"
Built between 1912-1914 formed a part of the outer line of forts of Modlin keep (northern sector). It was not directly assaulted during the German siege in 1915 but was abandoned by the defenders in 18.08 following a very questionable order by general Bobyr (commander of Modlin defences) forcing the garrison to withdraw from the main defence line.
Today it's reasonably well preserved with unlimited access to the area. Bring in the torchling if you plan to lurk in the underground corridors. Also, take good care as there are openings in the floor, you can fall through sustaining serious injury. Don't run like a mad chicken. Rather, watch your steps.
The cache is a small plastic box wrapped in a plastic bag. It sits in a niche, covered lightly with sand and pieces of concrete, leaves, etc.
This cache, as well as many others from Poland, is also registered at
Gpsgames.org. If you hit the cache please also consider registering your find
here, too. Thank you.
