We came to Zermatt to do some hiking. One of the goals was of course this long not found OpenCache. It seems to be a perfect place to hike to. Due to strong winds and there of not running cable cars, we had to change our plans. We did so twice, actually. In the end, we walked from Schwarzsee, over Hirli, had a pick-nick at the former Matterhorn-Base-Camp and the walked down over Seickren to the Stafelalp and on to this hidden, beautiful viewpoint. We enjoyed the view a lot and had a break. The famous mountain was clear to see, and we got a hint of the essential oils of the pine,
Then we started looking for the cache. With thanks to the pictures, soon it was very clear where the cache should be. The hole matched and even the two flat stones were there. But no cache. We tried to remove the second stone, but that stuck. After moving it a bit, we could take a picture from behind, but also no trace of a box. We also checked around the tree, but only found trash in another hole. Unfortunately, we had to consider the Matterhorn view cache missing. Looking back at my pictures I took, I realize that if the cache is really small, it might hide behind the upper stone.
We enjoyed the place however so much, that we decided to drop the moving cache OC17ADB Bergenmurmeli for a stop here. Not in the same hole, but the one we got the trash out. The next finder should move it on and hide it somewhere else, but at least the place is shown to one more person – who might have more luck, or a spare container, for this cache here.
