- Found it
bandutten, my wife, and I went to Mielnik to hold an event and log the two earthcaches in town. The caches are quite far apart in this part of Poland, so we had to find this cache as well…
The way to the caches had a few “hiccups”:
- The road was closed at both ends due to roadwork (of which we saw none). We took an alternate route and parked the car at the nearby graveyard. Then we walked the last few hundred meters.
- When we reached the church ruin by the foot of the hill, I noticed the path going upwards. I started going up the path with bandutten In tow. On the way up bandutten fell and hit her knee on a protruding stone. I had to carry her the rest of the way up the hill…
When we got to the top, we tried to tell my wife to find another way up. She had already found the stairs and joined us shortly… I should have looked for the stairs straight away…
At the top we admired the view first. Afterwards I began searching for the geocache, while bandutten built a small (doll) house out of bricks scavenged from the ruin. I found the cache shortly. It is “just” a plastic zip lock bag with a handful of logs. It might be better to future proof the cache with a small box of some kind… I signed he log (for both of us) and stamped it as well. Then it came back in hiding. When the house was done, we took the stairs back down and went on our way.
