PLACE
Niepodległości Square - Square in Krakow in Podgórze, the current District XIII. Limited in the north street Kalwaryjska and south street Zamoyski and hill Krzemionki foothills.
In this place there were barracks c. And k. The Austro-Hungarian army. October 31, 1918, soldiers under the command of Lieutenant Polish Antoni Stawarz Austrian soldiers began disarming. This was probably one of the first sections of the free Polish.
Barracks at this place was built by the Austrians in the nineteenth century. They survived until 1945, when they were burned. Today, it is the eastern part of the square.
