In my opinion Ilmet is one of the most pretty Warsaw skyscrapers (but this is actually not a popular opinion). It was built during the construction boom of 1990s, and just like other buildings from that time its architecture can bring associations with a crystal. Also the neighbouring skyscraper of Orco Tower (former FIM Tower) or the office building Kaskada (opposite the street) have similar forms. Ilmet has a quite valuable elevation - it is covered with stone and has a original, ‘salmon’ colour.
The building is 83 metres high (together with the logo of Mercedes situated on the top - 89 metres) - it is enough to call it a skyscraper, but among them it is one of the smallest - there is more than 20 higher buildings in Warsaw. For example, Rondo 1, located on the other corner of ONZ Roundabout is almost twice as high.
There were already some ideas to demolish the building and replace it with a higher one. Actually, we already had some similar situations in Warsaw - some buildings which were quite new were recently demolished and replaced with another one (City Center, Mercure Hotel) but no skyscraper was yet disassembled. Will Ilmet be first of them ? We will see, but that would be a pity.
On 1st of September 2014 the cache appeared in a new location, at the backyard. You have to enter through the gate from Sliska street - number 54 - the gate seems to be permanently open.
Attention ! Because of surrounding high buildings GPS devices may go crazy here (spoiler and the coded hint may be useful).
