We rarely realize that, apart from rock formations, bogs are very characteristic elements of the picture of the Stołowe Mountains. Unfortunately, only some of them have survived to this day. Many have been completely or partially drained by the construction of drainage ditches.

Dehumidification of peat bogs is a shameful stain on the pages of human history. Areas occupied by peat bogs that were intended for forests. They tried to pick up at all costs. However, people in the nineteenth century did not realize what the consequences could be. Dehumidification of peat bogs is a huge problem even today. Significant reduction of groundwater level and drainage of areas leads to the extinction of the most valuable habitats in terms of biocenosis.

It is on peat bogs that we can find species of insectivorous plants. No other habitat in our country has two species: round-leaved sundew (lat. Drosera rotundifolia) and oblong-leaved sundew (lat. Drosera intermedia). They are not as spectacular species of sundews as those from the equatorial zone, but they are one of a kind. Both plants are threatened with extinction in our country, therefore we must pay special attention to the value of peat bogs. In the peat bogs in our National Park we can not find insectivorous plants.

By draining the peat bogs, we also lead to the introduction of nitrogen deposits, which are accumulated in dead matter lying several meters under water. The described layers of dead plants are a great danger for global warming. When you buy peat in a plant shop, you are not sure where it came from. If you want to fertilize the soil in your garden, we recommend using a composter, because it is the least invasive form of obtaining fertilizer.

• Walking on the tourist trail is the safest for you and for nature... do not go beyond the trail. The trail has the most beautiful views. Do not take shortcuts.
• Inhale the fresh mountain air, do not smoke.
• The rocks around you are not good climbing material, let go of them. There is no cache there.
• Stones and minerals lie here for millions of years ... leave them for the next generations. Do not collect and mine rocks and minerals.
• If you're are here with your dog, your friend will be safer on a leash.

• Nature lives in symbiosis - do not destroy and do not collect plants, fruit or undergrowth.
• Animals live here in the wild, it's their home. Respect their calmness, do not frigten them, do not seize the animals, do not feed them.
• Enjoy the silence and the sounds of the nature - keep quiet, do not shout, do not sing, do not use radio receivers, do not play music. Let others enjoy the mountains, do not disturb the rest of the people.
• Whatever you brought – take it with you. Take away rubbish with you and leave in designated places near the shelter or entrances to the trail.
