Clay pit ponds "Jelonek" (near waypoint), and "Schneider's" (at the other side of Polczynska Street), are the remains of clay pits exploited by Brick Plant and Roof Tile Factory "Schneider Brothers". This factory was founded in 1903 at the territory of Odolany Village, and Jelonek Farm.
There were many smaller brickyards in this region. And there are many other clay pit ponds in this, and neighboring city districts. Now many ponds, and their surroundins are changed into picturesque park. Clay pit ponds "Jelonek", and "Schneider's" are still quite wild, you can meet a rabbit or roe deer here. Unfortunately you can find some garbage here, because it's neglected. But you can read articles in local newspapers, that there are also plans to arrange this area as park too.
You can hear some urban legends and rumors, about small railway cars, cars, even tank sunk in ponds near Polczynska Street. Well, it's quite possible, because clay pits are very deep, as you can see at old photo. It's very dangerous to swim in theese ponds, and many people have drowned here.
