Franków Hill dominates the town Dukla, and road to Dukla Pass. In the September 1944 Red Army launched an offensive, to help Slovak National Uprising, it's called Battle of the Dukla Pass. Franków Hill was attacked by the soldiers from 1st Czechoslovak Corps, during heavy fighting control of the hill changed few times.The hill was finally captured after a few days.
There's a monument at the tof of Franków Hill now. The inscription at the monument "Honor to fallen soldiers of the Soviet Army and the Czechoslovak People's Army who died in the years 1944-1945"
