Rynek w Karvinie to jeden z najładniejszych elementów tego starego miasta.

Obszar współczesnego miasta obejmuje kilka miejscowości, które kiedyś były samodzielne. W jego skład wchodzi: Solec , Raj, Frysztat, Karvina,  Darków oraz Łąki. Tereny te na przestrzeni dziejów przechodziły "z rąk do rąk". Od 1948 roku miasto znajduje się w granicach Czech.
