Description
Here is another case that is part of Project Griffin,
created with PGL District Trzebiez.
The nature reserve "YEWS ROKICKI the prof. Stanisław Król "was created by order of the Minister OŚiZN of 29 December 1987, covers an area of 17.41 hectares.
The purpose of reserve protection are the natural renewal of yew (Taxus baccata L.) with high dynamics of natural reproduction.
Reserve is located within the Forestry Commission Rokita belonging to the regional directorate in Szczecin, in the north-western most fertile, moist parts Goleniowska, where the predominant mixed-storey stands.
In contrast, the most famous Polish reserve yew in Poland - ie in Wierzchlesie Reserve (Reserve was created 18 June 1956 year. Protection area has been acquired 80.90 acres, including 44.21 acres of lake water were Mukrz), which includes protection dying population of yew, the Forest District Rokita, develops and creates ever new positions. When the Wierzchlesie soil conditions are not conducive to the development of trees - seedlings die after 2-3 years - here the population of this species from year to year to grow.
For this reason, In Welcome leads since 2002 yew breeding program and reintroduction. Including nursery grown on 33 000 yew seedlings, of which in 2006 was blown up in 5900 podsadzeniach pieces of pine and oak, and the other in 2007 and 2008. District parallel bulkhead protects the precision or natural regeneration of this species. Conservation and breeding program yew is funded by the GEF (Global Environment Facility) and by WFOŚiGW with the help of the Federation of the Greens 'Gaia' branch in Szczecin.
Yews are ROKICKI jewel of Western. We are pleased that in our area population of this once endangered species, found a place of natural development. Remember, however, that the reserve is now closed.
