Description
A place of the old gallows.
In 1766 the Earl of Schaffgotsch received the right of the judiciary for their own possessions. As the owner had the legal right to decide about life and death of his subjects. The death sentences were executed on the gallows that were located near "the dirt road for cattle" - today's Zamkowa street. In light of the documents, it is believed that the gallows existed much earlier, in the chronicle of the following endorsements: "1582 Lorentz Klennet hanged in Sobieszow for stealing" and "1602, March 10 Hubner from Birdie, has been lost in Sobieszów (Wojcieszyce) because of perfidy. The Right of the judiciary, who could judge his subjects were canceled in 1825.
As they report notes of chronicle and local people, gallows was in place of todays cross nearby the road to Chojnik (intersection of Chalubinskiego and Zamkowa street).
