Vilnius University, founded in 1579 by Stephen Báthory, is one of the oldest universities in Eastern Europe. For centuries, it has been an important center of science and culture in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. Its Baroque–Classical campus hides numerous courtyards and historic halls. This place is connected with many prominent figures in Polish and Lithuanian history.
