The project MOMF - Small Itinerant Photographic "Museum" is a private initiative of Karol Wilczynski. In 2008, he completed his master's degree at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. After working as a photographer for several years, he decided to create the MOMF Project. The idea for the Project was born at the Fotocooltura 2016 Festival in Oborniki Wielkopolskie, where for the first time, in addition to photography, Karol presented a collection of cameras and photographic accessories.
At first, the Project was just a website describing the cameras in his collection. He also organized temporary exhibitions in museums and community centers. But all the time he was guided by the idea of creating a permanent place where the collection would be available to visitors all year round.
After six years, the "MOMF Project Pre-Opening" was held on 2.07.2022. Many prominent enthusiasts of the history of photography responded to the invitation. Among them Wladyslaw Nielipinski, Antoni Florczak, Mariusz Jedynak, Tomasz Bielawski and many others.
Now the collection is open to the public twice a month, with the goal of educating younger generations as well as satisfying nostalgia for the analog world of photography.
Cameras from the collection can not only be seen on the website or at the MOMF Project headquarters. They happen to guest on the big screen in such productions as: "Magnesia", directed by Maciej Bochniak; "Kazimierz Greger. Kronikarz Niepodległości", directed by Zbyslaw Kaczmarek; the series "Kropla Prawdy", directed by Tomasz Kapuscinski , Karolina Lewicka and Lukasz Kosmicki and several other productions that we can't write about yet:)
The main collection covers the period from about 1880 to the 1940s. Cameras and photographic accessories are mostly purchased for the proverbial zloty, or received as donations. Charles refurbishes and restores them to their former glory and often uses them to create his photography.
Due to the small exhibition space, the collections on display will vary, but there will always be a cross-section of the history of camera development as well as equipment.
The exhibit includes cameras and photographic accessories from 1880 to 2000. Among them are cameras of Adela and Stanislaw Drążkowski from Chelmza as well as Mr. Jozef Cywinski photographer from Wisla. Including:
- large-format travel and atelier cameras
- medium- and large-format reflex cameras (single-lens reflex cameras)
- small- and medium-format cameras from the 20th century.
- photographic documents and gadgets
- cameras constructed by Karol Wilczynski - GreenWolf camera production and renovation
The collection also includes:
- Photographic books and magazines
- Carte de visite and cabinet card photos from photographic establishments
We cordially invite you to visit and wish you a pleasant experience, and Mr. Karol will make sure that all your questions will not remain unanswered :)
