The Pilsudski mound, located in the beautiful Las Wolski forest, was completed in 1937, two years after the death of the national leader Józef Pilsudski.
From the top of the 36-meter-high mound the view is excellent. On clear days it is even possible to see the Tatra Mountains to the south.
Las Wolski also hosts the small but excellent Kraków Zoo, and the Camadulensian monastery.
If you visit Kraków as a tourist and would like to spend a day away from city, Las Wolski is the place, although it is only a few kilometers from the centre.
The terrain rating for this cache (2) is correct if you approach the mound following the road from the zoo. If you follow any of the other marked paths in the forest it might be higher. It is easiest to reach the forest by taking bus #134 leaving from Hotel Cracovia with the last stop outside the zoo. Another alternative is for instance to go by bike.
A booklet with recreation activities in Kraków is available in the tourist offices. This booklet contains texts and maps of bicycle- and walking-paths in the surroundings, including a reasonably good map of Las Wolski.
The coordinates to another cache, 'Lost in Las Wolski' are hidden in this cache. It gives you another reason to visit this cache.
