Description EN PL

INFO: The cache is existing in geocaching.com since 2015 - finally I decided to publish it also in opencaching. Logbook has the logs - but still first 3 finders in opencaching, will receive the certificates online - please contact me regarding them.

The serie has now only 4 caches: no. 1,2.4 and 5. Other caches will be published simultaneously.

It is somewhat like "cache desert", so we decided (with Wonder) to put here a few caches. The second cache from this serie is located in the crossing of two roads: official signed foothpath (black colour) and stony road headed to former campsite (today there is no campsite at all - however local name of the place remains). The idea of "countryside serie" was inspired by philatryewood from 7Oaks, to whom this serie will be dedicated.

Zawadka - tiny village layed in beautiful woods, fields and meadows. This is that place in which you can feel real countryside. Zawadka is layed in Beskid Myslenicki, 60 km from Cracow. Lovely village is layed between Gron (a peak near Jaworzyny hamlet) and Pekalowka (near Pekale hamlet). Here you can find stunning views, woods with lot of wild mushrooms, marvelous fields and freedom. The most beautiful views are exactly from here.

11.29.44 - a big battle (between Germans and polish partizans) took place in Zawadka 1944 r. A lot of informal soldiers (partizans from Home Army - regiments "Zelbet" and "Odwet") were killed. A few of partizans escaped in two directions: towards Pcim and towards Trzebunia. There is a monument in the centre of Zawadka to remind us of all people who lost their life during II World War. (partizants and civils who have been murdered by Germans).

The first shots came, probably, from the garden around nearby house: Uzgorki 25) I will tell about the battle in another occasion (next cache:)). The information is able to find in article by Marian Cieslik "Zawadka in fire" (http://muwit.pl/muwit18/pl/p10/pl_malopolskie_pcim_p10_zelbet_kotun.html - unfortunatelly only in Polish).

There is a memorial cross a several meters from the cache. It was made in memory of partizans who have been killed during the battle. On this place (along today's road) many of them was killed. Very probably that exactly here was killed the lieutenant Artur Korbel (Bicz) who became lieutenant after his death.

FOOD AND DRINK:

It is recommended to buy everything before you come here. There is one shop (with very limited goods and no selection of them.) You can find shops in nearby Tokarnia - before you turn to local road upto Zawadka.

ACCOMODATION:

There is only one bad and breakfast in Zawadka - in Jaworzyny hamlet.

DOGS:

It is common in countryside - dogs are everywhere. Specially in Tajsowo hamlet there are a lot of barking four-legged-friends. It is better to keep your pupils on lead and under control. Around the cache: Cache is located strictly on the crossing. There is a public road however not with asphalt (good for tractors, walkers. Not good for disabled people, baby buggies etc. You can leave your car in unofficial park place in the end of the road, nearby the view point. (It there is any local it is always better to ask "is it OK?):)Theoretically it is possible to come here with a car however we strictly recommend to have walk or cycle. All points of interest and signed foothpaths are indicated on the printed map which is inside of cache.

The local stony road (without signs) leads to former campsite (today it is weedy area), which used to exist here around 1980-1985. The road is lovely - there is a fabolous cliff on left handside. There is also a marvelous gulch (or gorge) which is a very restfull place. Lot of people take here a rest, make a fireplace or just have theirown campsite...

About the cache:

Tiny tube. There is only logbook and printed map of Zawadka - please leave it in the cache, unless you REALLY need it. If you take it, please just let me know ASAP, to give me a chance to replace it (ziellona@gmail.com).

Bring your own pen

Good luck

Ziellona.
