Description EN PL

Zenith – no it’s not about an old Soviet camera, only about the point in the sky, located exactly above our head. Is it possible to see the sun in this point some day ? At our latitude definitely not. The sun’s height depends not only on our latitude but also on the latitude of the tropics. It seems that they are not stable, but they gradually migrate, what is a result of decreasing angle of the Earth’s rotational axis and the orbit axis. They move about 0,008’, so more than 10 metres per year. That’s a lot, it’s quite a visible distance. Maybe some day the Earth will “stand up” completely and the tropics will reach the equator ? For our calculations we assume that the tropics are currently on the latitude of N and S 23 26.210' (as of the year 2018). And where is the cache ? In the place, where the sun is its highest position on the height of 61º 14.015’ on the day of summer solstice, on the height of 37º 47.805’ during equinox, and on the height of 14º 21.595’ during winter solstice.

And what about the longitude ? Now, let’s go to another problem. Usually we assume, that the sun is in the highest point at 12.00. But that’s not exactly true, because we have the same local time (so simply the time we see on the clock) on the whole territory of Poland, and the sun moves gradually from east to west above different points. And we have summer time and winter time. The summer time is exactly corresponding with the solar time only at the meridian of 30ºE, which is actually located outside Poland. The winter time is in fact more natural, it is corresponding with the solar time at the meridian of 15ºE, which goes through the territory of Poland. The cache is located in the point, when the sun its highest point at 11:36:24.936 in winter and at 12:36:24.936 in summer.

Attention ! You have to count it in the most simple way ! We don’t take under consideration various deflections (which are results of for example the irregular shape of the Earth) !

Attention 2 ! The cache is situated in a public place, in safe distance from the railway ! Stay away from the railway line and don’t even try to cross it in an illegal place ! The train traffic is very intensive here !
