Description
There are several towns around Warsaw (Podkowa Leśna, Milanówek, Brwinów, Komorów, Ząbki, Zalesie Górne i Dolne), which were developed to some extend according to the garden city concept. We can also find a few of them inside today’s administrative borders of Warsaw (Włochy, Młociny, Sadyba). The former Garden City of Jelonek (previously the singular form Jelonek, instead of today’s Jelonki – plural was used) remained only in a very fragmental form. That is because it was cut by large Powstańców Śląskich street and also because of gradual expansion of newer, more intensive development. This is why the former character of the garden city is not so well visible anymore. Today this is a rather usual estate of single-family houses, surrounded by blocks of flats from each side. But still it is a nice place for a walk, along smaller streets we can see some older houses (also from before the Second World War, even a few wooden houses can still be found). We can still feel a calm, quiet atmosphere of this place, especially when it is dark J The map underneath will be useful (I recommend to print it or download it to your device).
It is worth mentioning that streets’ names on this map are “not exactly up-to-date”.
Don’t worry, it won’t be necessary to visit all points marked on the map, only some of them ! Other ones are only for misleading ! It all goes like this: on zero point you have to find an object with the sign visible only in UV-light (you can check the spoiler beforehand) and now you know where to go further. When you reach the second point, you search for another number, you check it on the map and so on. One of another points will also be marked with F letter – that would mean that you now head to the final. In next point won’t have to search for another mark, only for the final cache. Have fun !
The coordinates of all points on the map are given as waypoints. But it is really easier just to print the map !
Attention ! It will be necessary to cross the railway at least once, but please do it only using the rail crossing at Strąkowa street (the route is planned in such way, that this is the most convienient point).
