Warto w tym miejscu zaznaczyć, że zarówno gr. angelos jak i hebr. mal’achoznaczają posłańca w ogóle, bez przesądzania o jego ludzkiej bądź duchowej naturze. Różnica na poziomie językowym pojawia się dopiero w łacińskim tłumaczeniu Biblii: gdy mal’ach bądźangelos ma oznaczać posła ludzkiego, tłumacz używa słowa nuntius lub legatus – gdy zaś ma oznaczać posłańca boskiego, pojawia się słowo angelus, będące oczywiście zlatynizowaną formą gr. angelos.

Anioł Stróż

Uważa się, że każdy człowiek posiada swojego Anioła Stróża (tak głosił m.in. Bazyli Wielki).
