Description EN PL

I would like to invite you to a short walk In my hometown, Bierun. This town got its civic rights in 1387, although before there was a settlement here. In it’s long history, Bierun was under Silesian Piasts, it was a Czech fief and it was incarnated into Nazideutschland during II WW. You can read about Bierun here.

There’s a legend, wchich says, that Bierun was in the centre of the World (here - page 3 in polish). Legend says, that in the Great Bierunian Pond (this place doesn’t exist anymore) there was a hole, which lead straight to hell, where God (in Silesian dialect “Pon Bocek”) threw all fallen angels and from that time there started harmony in the World.

Our walk we start at St. Valentine Square. St. Valentine is Bierun’s main patron.

Plac św. Walentego

At the other side of Krakowska Street there’s an old, wooden church. You can read more about St. Valentine’s church here.

We take walk down Krakowska Street in S-E side, along cementary walls. We go about 470m, until we reach votive cross.

Cross

Before the cross we turn N and go another 75m to the rock. This rock commemorates Dike of Great Bierunian Pond. This pond was very lucrative to Pszczynian dukes and fishes from this pond were often eaten even in Cracow.

Rock

We Take a walk this dike about 55m. There you need to find characteristic tree. The cache is about 3m from the path. When you reach the tree, go carefully down 3m. Cache is masked.

Stamp

Inside you find stamp with Bierunian crest. Stamp it in your notebook. Place your stamp in logbook or draw something. You can take a piece of paper with a stamp if you don’t have your own notebook. And please, don’t take this stamp. Thank you Miklobit for preparing this stamp.
