Społeczność żydowska mocno zaakcentowała swoją obecność w Wągrowcu dopiero od końca XVIII wieku,
Lapidarium powstało z elementów odzyskanych po zniszczonym w czasie II Wojny światowej cmentarzu żydowskim.
