Description EN PL

It turns out that Bemowo had quite a large network of railway tracks. For years the various sidings were hidden by the authorities so that imperialist spies wouldn't find out where the trains went. The Warszawska Magistrala Hutnicza was created together with the large steelworks to which it was routed.

The siding begins its course in Górce, near the Górczewska Street viaduct, and runs in a slight arc through the edge of the housing estate.
Before today's S8 route was built, locomotives squeezed between the woodsheds, dovecotes and houses made of demolition bricks that stood along the now-forgotten streets of Żeńców, Brzeżek and Wieśniacza. These were the last remnants of the old urban-suburban buildings that had been unscrupulously demolished for the construction of the expressway.

The track continued and crossed Lazurowa Street on the surface. Next to the crossing was the signalman's booth, which lowered and raised the barrier when the train ran. Next to the shed, meanwhile, stood a classic saloon, which even had a heart cut out on the door.

The WMH continues along Estrada Street. There were other sidings here - one led to the rubbish mountain and the other to the now defunct state-owned petrol company. There is no trace of either now - a roller came and levelled it - now no trace of the siding is to be found.

Please be discreet when around the cache - it may not look like it, but there may be quite a few local muggles hanging around.

How to get there?

The cache is located between the noise barriers and the railway tracks.
I advise against crossing the tracks - the slope is steep and trains do normally run through here.
The place where it is safe to be on the correct side of the tracks is given as a navigation point.
The tracks run there over the street, and there is a path that will take you safely to the place where the cache is hidden.

If you are planning to go by public transport - the cache can be reached by a 20-minute walk from the Bemowo metro station.
Alternatively you can start from os. Górczewska bus/tram terminus.
