The Gwardia Hall was built in 1970 and renewed in 2013. Its audience was incresed to 2000 then. The hall host the Gwardia Opole handball club, but there are also some other events orginized there: judo cup, futsall competitions, business exhibitoins.
The Gwardia Hall is named after Jerzy Klempel (1953 - 2004) - one of the best polish handball players, who started and ended his careere here.
Amomng other titles he is: holder of a bronze medal on the olympic games (1976), holder of a bronze medal on the world championship (1982), seven times polish champion (with Śląsk Wrocław), finalist of EHF Champions League, three times Budesliga top scorer, holder of few scoring records in Bundesliga, two times attende of a Olypic Games (top scorer in 1980), three times attende of a World Championship, and that is not all.
