The Magi (Greek: magoi), also referred to as the Three Wise Men or Three Kings were, in Christian tradition, a group of distinguished foreigners who visited Jesus after his birth, bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Balthazar, an Arabian scholar, gave myrrh.
Myrrh from the Arabic mur, is the aromatic resin of a number of small, thorny tree species of the genus Commiphora, which is an essential oil termed an oleoresin. Myrrh resin is a natural gum.
