Abram Gurewicz’s boarding house, 8 Armii Krajowej St.

Built in stages between 1906 and 1921 in a large park area. It was owned by Abram Gurewicz (Górewicz). The building had polygonal plan, consisting of seven adjacent wings. It is one of the largest buildings of wooden construction in Poland (only some exterior walls are brick). Its floor area is 2,700 m2, 20,000 m3 capacity. The entire building from the east and south was surrounded by rest-rooms, glazed verandas and three open terraces. Excellently equipped spa had sewers, running water, electric lighting and telephone. It had an elegant salon, reading room, parlour, dining room and concert hall. There was employed specialist gardener, so the resort areas stand out of around with a beautiful park that had exotic plant varieties. It didn’t have the status of a sanatorium or hospital, but how to give advertisement a "health resort for convalescents and people seeking recreation". Also clearly points out that bedridden patients or patients with tuberculosis won’t be admitted. After the 2nd World War, the spa building was intend in succession: the sanatorium, Central Aviation Hospital, Medical School No 8. In 1997 the building was taken over by Polish Foundation of Alzheimer. It is located in the register of monuments at number 937th.

It’s original author was nicram, I adopted it from him and reactivated the cache.
