Zaborów Leśny - 1863 Insurgents grave - 14th August 1863 was a tragic day for major Walery Remiszewski's outfit of 350 poorly armed young insurgents. Administrator of a nearby estate, tortured by the Cossacks, revealed the wherebouts of the unit. Enjoying numerical advantage and superior firepower Russians clashed with the insurgents at Zaborów Leśny.
Today, at the intersection of the trails, deep in the beautiful forest of Kampinos stands the cross marking the final resting place of 72 young soldiers of major Remiszewski's detachment who made their last stand on a sandy hill of Zaborów.
